Dear Mohammad, As you have observed, pyrethroid pesticides can exacerbate mite problems. Bulb mites survive in the soil feeding on plant debris, so killing mites on the bulbs with hot water treatment may only give very temporary relief. If available, I would suggest dimethoate. It is a systemic organophosphate pesticide that is generally effective against mites. My climate is similar to south western Iran from Shiraz north to Khorramabad. Can you recommend bulbous species from this region? I am particularly fond of tulips but my climate appears to be too warm in winter for most tulips. Are there tulips in south western Iran?
