Often they can run tests for virus and even give a genus or group identification. I think the cost is minimal or zero in most cases. When I have submitted random samplings to the state (referred by the county) of "suspect" plants I often get unexpected results-- plants that I thought were "clean" turned out to be virused, and vice-versa."
