I have done scaling with some Amaryllids many years ago after accidentally
sticking a shovel through some bulbs when digging. I cut them into
quarters, keeping a piece of the basal plate with each section. I then
dusted them with sulphur and allowed the edges to dry before planting in a
very fast draining mix. Most of these bulb cuttings sent up new leaves and
developed bulbs during their normal growing season.
