I find that they just fall over under the weight of their own leaves. Some
people also cut them in the fall to reduce leaf spot since the fungus
overwinters on the leaves. I assume pulling the dried leaves in the spring
works as well, though.

Colleen, juno irises ought to grow really well in your climate. *Iris
bucharica* is the most readily available species.
