Hi,

I was contacted by Peter Bernhardt who gave me permission to add to
the wiki an interesting article he wrote for the Friends of Kings
Park (Perth, Australia's amazing garden) magazine about the
pollination of these orchids, Sun Orchids, Successful and Immoral. I
have linked it to the wiki page:
http://pacificbulbsociety.org/pbswiki/index.php/…
for those of you interested in reading it. I'm giving the link to the
page instead of the article so you can also see the link to Peter's
page to read about what else he has written and the Friends page and
once again look at the photos of these gorgeous flowers. It was very
kind of him to make this paper available.

In Peter's email to me he wrote:
>By the way, you do realize this is an anniversary year for the study
>of bulbous plants. In 1862 (150 years ago) Charles Darwin published
>the first edition of his book, "On the Various Contrivances by Which
>Orchids are Fertilised by Insects." All of the british orchids he
>studied (about 26 species) are bulbous or rhizomatous perennials.
