tulips in warm climates

I was about to report that Tulipa clusiana (from list member Russell
Stafford) has multiplied here in the SF Bay area, and recommend it for
NZ as well. Then I looked up the climate in Auckland and now I'm going
to figure out how to move there:

"The absolute maximum recorded temperature is 34.4 °C (93.9 °F),[20]
while the absolute minimum is -0.6 °C (30.9 °F)."
