Amarcrinum verses the goats !

I agree with Steve's observations. I do not keep goats, but have seen deer eat (and seen the results of such eating) Eremurus shoots, Amaryllis belladonna buds and flowers, Narcissus flowers, PC Iris leaves, Rhododendron leaves and buds, along with other more palatable plants. They even munched down my Aconitum plants years ago.

In my yard, it appears that the new fawns will try everything at least once, and I've never seen a poisoned or dying deer in the neighborhood. We have at least 8 resident does, so that's a lot of annual food exploration ( 8 -12 fawns each year) to tolerate in the garden.

They also like the ripening plums, and have more than once gotten a bit drunk when the plum harvest got away from me for a week or so in a heavy crop year.
