When I was trying to get rid of mine, and cut the canes down, I put some 
aside somewhere out of the way as the canes looked useful, also would 
need cutting up if I wanted to throw them out.

Imagine my shock when I found they were growing shoots and roots quite 
happily.  And here I as trying to get rid of it!
