Crinum thaianum

Dear Friends,
I was in a large pet Warehouse store today on another errand,
when I saw a shelf of Aquarium plants so had to stop. There were
bulbs labelled "Onon Plant - Crinum thaianum". They were $ 4 or 5
each.

But what were they and will any Crinum tolerate growing submerged?

It sort of looked like C. americanum, but not enough. Bulbs
were about 1 inch in diameter. Leaves thick and slightly twisted. I
wouldn't even bet that it is a Crinum.

It is not on the PBS wiki and although there are lots of
Google 'hits', none answer a few basic questions.

So what do our Crinum experts have to guess? Look at this
page and tell me:

Of course the very name "thaianum" sounds phoney and probably
just means some Thai nursery is the source.
