Andrew, it is not impossible to find which Louisiana cultivars are grown in South Africa and this is a good indication of heat tolerance. Those I have from that origin are impervious to the worst summers.
 
Cypella herberti and coelestis can be grown at the pond's edge with wet feet but not waist deep so to speak. Sisyrinchium palmifolium and Neomaricas are not found in flooded ground.
