Josh, there are a lot of Rhodea  cultivars from Ai that are evidently virused and people admire their "beauty". At least, Rohdeas are not bulbs and have nothing to do with  bulbs.
 
A virus infecting an amaryllid is an "amaryllid virus" and the potential to impact on many years of work, expense and effort is dreadful.
 
Chimeric tissue is what causes variegation in many plants, and this is not an infectious disease.
