New members of PBS may want to read Paul Cumbleton's contribution from just a few years ago, on Perched Water Tables and drainage. http://pacificbulbsociety.org/pbslist/old.php/… I am sure I have lost more bulbs, and plants in general, since using composted bark as a peat replacement. I am now using much more Perlite, or clay cat litter which is less offensive, but not very "green" I guess. Brian Whyer, England
