red coloring in Brunsvigia josephinae leaves

With the early fall rains here on the West Coast, my winter growing amaryllids (and others) are waking up for their seasonal growth cycle.  One of my Brunsvigia josephinae bulbs displays some red coloring in the first leaves to emerge, which disappears altogether as they grow.  I've noticed some of my seedlings display this same red coloring.  The only other thing I've noticed about these seedlings is they tend to be slower growing than the others.  Otherwise, the leaves turn the regular blue/grey-green color as they grow.
Is this normal?
