What a great group!! Thanks to all of you who responded to the 'sticky' subject of clay soils! All the great references included in the responses should keep me reading for quite a while. The Cape Encyclopedia, etc., by Goldblatt was pointed out privately as having a goldmine of soil information; I think all PBSers should hear about (or be reminded of) this great reference.
