Dear Friends,
Speaking of hellish hot weather, Crocosmia 'Lucifer' is
blazing away in this heat and humidity. Talk about flashy, brazen and
bold !	Take a look
	http://pacificbulbsociety.org/pbswiki/index.php/…

Now the admission, that it took us a couple years and losses
to find a happy place for 'Lucifer'. Our first success came with a
pot of already growing corms in foliage. All previous trials with
'dormant" (dead? Dried? ) bulbs failed. Now we have a couple of
thriving clumps in full sun and partial shade.

We have yet to have marked success with any other cv or
species. I new plant of 'Distant Planet' from Seneca Hills (the late
S. H. ) is growing well, but no real test yet.

Can anyone suggest other cvs or species that succeed, grow,
multiply and BLOOM in Zone 5?

Mark Fox's Crocosmia web site has some delicious looking
varieties (http://www.simplesite.com/CROCOSMIA/) (Harlequin and Rose
Queen call me).

Appreciate experience in colder climates. Best
		Jim W.
