Dear James,
  I agree, it does seem to key out best to D. discolor, but that is a plant of 
the low (Sonoran) desert, several mountain ranges and many hundreds of miles 
away from here.  There are some Daturas that occur in less remote areas, but I 
have never known of any to grow in the San Francisco Bay area.  But if Annie's 
(an hour's drive and only a bay away from here) grows D. discolor, then seed can 
be nearby.
