Adam, the temperature inside my protected cold frame probably never drops
below freezing. 

 

The outside temperature I reported,  3º F (or minus 16º  C) gives you an
idea of how well protected the cold frame is. 

 

This plant would not have a chance if planted in the open garden here, much
less where you live. So yes, you’ll have to build a cold frame or something
to protect it from below freezing temperatures. A heated greenhouse would
probably not be a good choice because I think this plant needs a long cool
growing season – more experienced growers please chime in here.
