Dear all,

I thought that members would like to know that there is a new seed
source in the UK with a wealth of originally wild-collected
seed. The list is run by a very knowledgeable grower, Kurt Vickery,
and is based around a combination of his material and that of Mike
Salmon, whose plant collection he has helped maintain for several
years: Mike collected for nearly forty years around the
Mediterranean and has extensive collections of the main genera. Many
of you will have known of him before he retired when he operated as
Monocot Nursery.

Kurt's list contains many taxa of Narcissus, Sternbergia, Biarum,
Crocus, Allium, Colchicum, Fritillaria and Scilla, as well as many
others. Kurt is also offering seeds collected in the past season in
the Kazakh Tien Shan by Vladimir Kolbintsev, who visitors to those
mountains will almost certainly know. This contains many species of
Tulipa, Eremurus and Iris, as well as others. Kurt and I collected
in the Tien Shan last year with Vladimir and got extremely good
germination from our collections of Juno irises, frits and tulips, by
sowing at this time of the year.

If you are interested in either of these list contact Kurt Vickery

Best regards,
David Victor
