Bulb Storage

An alternative to ordering net bags is to make them yourself. You can
buy various kinds of netting at any large fabric store. If your
sewing machine doesn't like the netting, you can cover the seam with
tissue paper while sewing. I did this when I thought I would grow and
store my own onions -- not realizing that good storage onions can be
produced only where they get sufficient heat in summer. I don't store
ornamental bulbs out of the ground for very long, and so I just use
brown paper bags (obtainable in bulk from Costco) for the 4 to 6
weeks they're out during my annual bulb sale.
