Subject: [pbs] NARGS Surplus seed

I just downloaded the Surplus list from the current NARGS seed
exchange and was startled to see how few items actually "sold out"
during the initial distribution in January and February. If any of
you are members of the Society, I will alert you that there are many
rare bulb species on this surplus list, which can be found at:
http://nargs.org/seed/…
In addition, if you belong to a LOCAL NARGS chapter and not to the
national society, this one year only you are allowed to order from
the surplus list. I don't know how, or whether, they are checking
chapter memberships, but this was announced a few days ago.

It was very disappointing to see how few people had ordered bulb
seeds, especially since I had missed the deadline for the AGS
Fritillaria Group seed exchange and donated all my frit seeds to
NARGS, including some quite rare ones that are still available. The
next step with the seeds is that they are tossed into boxes and
shipped at random to the local chapters for distribution; I hope
somebody somewhere fishes out Fritillaria euboeica, grows it, and
gets converted!
