Flea Collar As Insecticide

In the past, when there would be larger house plants that would be
awkward to spray I would set them on a large garbage bag, cut a few
inches off a flea collar and somehow attach it to the plant (rubber
band, punch a small hole with a nail and use twist tie, etc.) Pull the
garbage bag up over the plant and tie securely closed. Leave for 24 to
48 hours in a shady place. Seemed to take care of a variety of obnoxious
insects. No idea what's in flea collars these days, as I use Frontline
on the indoor / outdoor cat (whom I am trying to convert to indoor only,
with decreasing success as we edge towards Spring.)
