Jim McKenney wrote about Paeonia 'Coral Charm'. Yes, it does have an
unpleasant odor; many hybrid peonies do, even those that seem pleasant at
first sniff.

Another interesting thing about 'Coral Charm' is that it can make new
plants from roots without an apparent growing point or crown. I found this
out when I moved a large plant of it. The ends of the roots unavoidablyleft
inthe ground made a whole colony of new plants, which now thrust up through
a prostrate pine. I wonder whence it derives this characteristic? The only
other peonies I grow that send up distant plants are the shrubby P.
delavayi and P. lutea.

While we're on the subject of peonies, if there's anybody out there who has
P. clusii, I will trade almost anything for propagating material from it.
