My experience of Albuca shawii is that it is very widespread in the Eastern Cape occuring from rather arid lower altitude habitats in the Karoo, through the Eastern Cape thicket and grassland and up to the southern Drakensberg - so it is a very versatile species. We find it very easy to grow, seeding itself, and its very pretty.
