Scadoxus multiflorus ssp. katherinae

Come to think of it, I saw many Scadoxus multiflorus ssp? blooming in the
shade at Lotusland in Santa Barbara, CA in early July. They were larger in
all respects (inflorescence, scape, and leaves) than the one I grow in a
pot. I didn't see a tag, and the guide said that they were "some kind of
paint brush. They look like they come from Mars." She also rushed us through
the cactus and succulent areas, very impressive collections, because she
didn't like cactus.
