As a follow up to James comments I would say that water quality is of  utmost 
importance.  When I lived in Portland, OR with its soft mineral  free 
municipal water I could grow any carnivore, and Disa orchids grew like  weeds.  Now, 
just over the Columbia River in Vancouver with its mineral  laden well water 
all of these were ready to perish.  If you are in the same  situation the only 
way to grow Dionaea, etc is with distilled water or collected  rain water.
