David, I suspect that whatever you potted in was too rich. Like many other plants, too much of a good thing will encourage foliage growth at the expense of flowers. Part of the magic of the mix is that, along with what we've all heard about "perfect drainage", the wonder mix is mostly mineral, with little of the nitrogen that organic matter would provide.
