Changing topic, but the "blinding whiteness" reminds me of Platanthera blephariglottis var. conspicua I spoted in the New Jersey Pine Barrens. Struck me even from the window of a fast moving car. Anyone grows this tuberous rooted moist sand/bog growing perennial? My cultivated stock came from Arrowhead Alpines.

Ipheion 'Jessie' is supposed to be a new cv -dark blue-violet from 'Rolf
Fiedler'. Does anyone grow it yet? I am a big Ipheion fan with 'Alberto
Castillo' and 'Charlette Bishop' putting on shows right now.

I'm a fan of Ipheion, too, and find the blinding whiteness of 'Alberto
Castillo' to be the bees knees.
