Propagating Eucomis

I have read that Eucomis is easily propagated by leaf cuttings, but I have never done this because I was bored from the idea to disfigure the plants. But, inspired from the English common name of the genus, I cut off the tuff of leaves on the top of the flower stalk of E. 'Sparkling Burgundy' and planted in the very same way of pineapples !
Now, the cutting has a whorl of small roots growing, but I can't figure yet how the bulb will form eventually.
Anyone has ever tried this ???

best regards
