I agree with Kenneth on this point. Also, with email it is very easy 
to make an error.  Sometimes the sender realizes this and sends a 
second message correcting the first.  Anyone quoting might miss the 
second message.

If I were to be quoted at any length I would like the chance to look 
over what is being quoted. Circumstances change: plants being bragged 
about may die, ones I could never get to germinate may now be coming 
out my ears, and so on.
