extraction of colchicine

Paige.  I would try to dissuade him from trying it.  There are safer methods 
of inducing polyploidy using other chemicals.  Colchicine can be absorbed 
through the skin  and is very toxic.  Also once in the body, there is no 
antidote for it.  It is used in extremely small concentrations (dosages) for 
the treatment of gout and is probably available in Turkey by Rx at a 
university hospital.

I would strongly dissuade him unless he has some experience in handling 
toxic substances or laboratory experience with dangerous chemicals.
