I have L. sprengeri here in Northern New Jersey and it did take two 
years for it to settle in.  I believe that it may have even not appeared 
the first year above ground.  It is located in a damp spot near some 
species lilies and a cardiocrinum that  have nurturing along for three 
years.    Gets three to four hours of sun per day.
