ramps

I recall reading that eating ramps in spring was a good way to avoid
catching cold. The same individual concluded that perhaps it was the effect
of ramps strong smell (think garlic breath) and no one came close enough to
pass along any germs. One spring in Connecticut I gathered ramps and we ate
them. Tasty, but as an additive to other dishes rather than alone as a
vegetable.
