V. californicum, with cream-white flowers, is a bit more of a "flowering" subject. I have a colony of it here and will add it to my bulb list this summer, with the warning that I'll have to jack up the price to pay for the shipping, since the huge rhizome will probably weigh more than the typical bulb order altogether.
