Crinum -What is "splendens"?

Dear John, Kevin et al;
	So the name 'Splendens' is an invalid cultivar, but there are
a variety of species and hybrids with red/purple leaves. It would be
best if new introductions are given real cv names. It they are not
vegetatively propagated, but seed grown too, they constitute a 'group
name'.

	So a red leafed Crinum I have might be any of a variety of
species (although C. (asiaticum/procerum) is likeliest) with the name
Crinum asiaticum var. procerum 'Red Leaf Group' ( based on ICNCP
rules).

	Comments?

		Thanks	Jim W.
