Paul, it is laundry bleach and yes, some people feel that there are some
inhibitors on the seeds.  I have had success both ways with and without.
I think that I have a slightly better result with the wash.

Different Haemanthus and Scadoxus seeds are different colours.  H. coccineus
seeds are dark wine/black.
