Questions about seeds from hot and dry summer areas

Seeds of Mediterranean geophytes (bulbs, rhizomes, tubers ect) are usually 'dry' seeds and all germinated in autumn. A dry hot rest is needed before to sow. Also germination will occour with rather low temperatures and high moisture. Most part of these plants opend their pods in spring or early summer with few exceptions. The most remarkable is Narcissus serotinus which flowers in autumn and release the seeds in a couple of weeks later. This is probably the only species which seeds don't dry out before germination.
