Lachenalia from leaf cuttings

Cut off an entire leaf at the base, just below soil level and cut in half.  
Insert the cuttings 2 cm deep into damp sand. Place the pots in a shady spot 
with good air circulation.  In about a month small bulblets will begin to form.  
They can be separated during the summer dormancy and potted up.  This works 
for many of the species and takes a year less than flowering them from seed.
